"All the major civilizations of the world have always cultivated in their young the habits and tastes of the community. Young people might reel, but they usually return in some measure to the fundamental elements learned in childhood that stand the tests of time and truth. They might live out those values in ways that seem contradictory and they will undoubtedly expand their tastes, but they will be faithful to the real beliefs they experienced. What is essential for parents and Christian communities is that we clearly delineate the guidelines and values by which we discern and discriminate -- and that we live unhypocritically in line with the principles that we espouse."

Is It a Lost Cause? Having the Heart of God for the Church's Children
At Christ the Shepherd, we believe children are a gift from God (Psalm 127:3-4) and that we have the wonderful responsibility to instruct and nurture them in the faith that has been handed down from generation to generation (Deut. 6; Acts 2:39).
In our worship services, we include the children, rather than segregate them. While there is a great nursery available, we also are happy when baby voices join in singing the Doxology or reciting the Apostles' Creed. And our pastor loves it when a child's voice punctuates the sermon! It reminds us that our faith is for us AND our children!
Our junior and senior high Youth Connection -- Fridays at 7:30 p.m. -- combines the English-speaking and Brazilian teens, and offers music, fun and encouragement in how the truth of the Gospel applies to our kids' day-to-day lives.
